Kick it to the kerb

Reflection on Fundraising

Taking part in this Cancer Council fundraising event has been an eye-opening and rewarding experience. At first, the idea of shaving and colouring my hair felt like a bold and somewhat daunting challenge, but knowing it’s for such an important cause has made every step feel meaningful.

One of the most powerful aspects of this journey has been seeing the generosity and support from friends, family, and even strangers. It’s incredible how people come together when they see a cause that matters. Each donation, no matter the size, has reminded me of the kindness and empathy people have, and it’s been truly humbling.

That being said, fundraising hasn’t always been easy. There were moments when I worried whether we’d reach our goals or if people would engage with our efforts. Learning how to promote the cause, ask for support, and keep up the momentum has been a challenge, but also a valuable learning experience.

Beyond the financial side, this journey has made me reflect deeply on why we’re doing this. Cancer affects so many lives, and while shaving my head is a temporary change, the impact of raising awareness and funds for research and support services is long-lasting. This event isn’t just about us—it’s about the countless individuals and families facing cancer every day.

As the shaving day gets closer, I feel a mix of excitement and nervousness. But more than anything, I feel proud—proud of our team, proud of our supporters, and proud to contribute to something bigger than myself. This experience has shown me the power of community, resilience, and the difference we can make when we take action.

Birthday

As my birthday approaches, I’ve been reflecting on the things that truly matter to me. This year, I’ve chosen to celebrate in a more meaningful way by supporting the Cancer Council through our team, Kick it to the Kerb.

This cause is incredibly close to my heart. We’ve all felt the pain of losing loved ones to cancer, and it’s heartbreaking to hear of new diagnoses within our community. The helplessness of not being able to take away their pain is overwhelming.

But amidst the sadness, there’s hope. I’m deeply grateful for our loved ones who have survived their cancer journey and are in remission. Their strength inspires me, and I’m thankful every day that they’re still part of our lives.

To honor them and to help others facing similar battles, I’m asking for your support. Whether it’s a small or large donation, every contribution makes a difference in the fight against cancer.

You can donate directly to our team, Kick it to the Kerb

Thank you for being a part of this journey with me. Together, we can make an impact and bring hope to so many lives.

New Years Wish

As dawn unfolds a brand-new year,

May health and happiness draw near.

With every breath, let strength abound,

In every heart, contentment found.

May mornings greet you, fresh and bright,

With peaceful days and restful nights.

A steady heart, a calm, clear mind,

A life that’s balanced, true, and kind.

Let laughter ring through every space,

And love surround, a warm embrace.

Through trials faced, may courage grow,

Through every challenge, wisdom flow.

So here’s to you, this year ahead,

May blessings bloom where dreams are led.

With health as strong as mountain air,

And joy as vast as skies so fair.

Happy New Year! May it be,

A year of boundless harmony.

Christmas

Surviving cancer can give Christmas a profoundly special meaning. It’s a season often associated with hope, renewal, and gratitude, which aligns deeply with the journey of overcoming such a life-altering challenge. Whether you’re celebrating your own survival or supporting someone else who has faced cancer.

This Christmas is a testament to your strength and the beauty of second chances. Celebrate it your way, with joy and gratitude, knowing you’ve overcome so much.

Merry Christmas to you all xx

Photos

Going through photos, of the love ones that we have recently lost to cancer, becomes overwhelming to the thought of how many people get cancer.

Please help support myself and my team Kick it to the Kerb, to raise funds to make a difference.

Milestones

Every day is hard, when you miss the ones you love, more so when it’s their Birthday or their first Christmas, Anniversary and all the other special occasions.
It’s time to reflect and remember all the fun times, memories that we all have created together.
We need to be kind to ourselves and support one another.

Please help donate so we can Kick cancer to the kerb

I’m fundraising for Cancer Council Victoria to help stop cancer.

Every year we lose so many Friends and Family to this dreaded cancer, and this year has been the hardest one for me.

I lost 2 close friends in 2024, Dean and Deb.  Their bravery and strong will was a standout, both enjoyed a good fight, over so many topics, but unfortunately this was a fight they didn't win.

Ive been inspired by their can-do attitude and decided to shave my hair and donate my hair.

Our Team Kick to the Kerb consists of Belinda, Cory and Emily, they are either cutting or colouring their hair.

Please donate and help this worthy cause, every dollar can make a difference.
