Matilda’s Cancer Council Fundraising
My name is Matilda and I am 9 years old. Recently my 2 Grandparents were diagnosed with Prostate Cancer, so I was a little familiar with the C word! A few weeks ago my Mum was reading Johnny Ruffo’s new book and I asked her to read some out to me. It talked about how he use to perform for money. So I had an idea, that maybe I could also sing like he did and make some money and then donate it to people with cancer like him and my grandparents. So I made up a sign and created a playlist of some songs I knew how to sing on my IPad and decided I would sing outside the local supermarket whilst my Mum did her groceries. I’ve been doing this for a couple of weeks now. So far I’ve raised over $500 from singing out the front of my local supermarkets. Thank you to the local generous people of Werribee who have donated so far.I’m fundraising for Cancer Council Victoria to help stop cancer.
Every year more than 35,000 Victorians hear the words ‘you have cancer’.
Thanks in part to generous Victorians, 7 in 10 of them will survive five years after a cancer diagnosis, but there’s still so much work to be done.
