Shaving for Tim

By Makartha Desmond

Thankyou!

Thankyou to everyone who supported me with this Shave and a Huge Happy Birthday to Tim who would have been 50 on Saturday.

It’s taking some getting used to with having no hair but it’s going to be a fun journey for sure!!

Update.....

On Sunday night Tim Richings passed away. The world has lost an amazing father, husband and friend. He is no longer in pain and is able to be himself again after almost a year long fight with terminal stage four brain cancer. He will be sorely missed. I’m glad he’s comfortable now.

I have decided the exact date of my shave. I’m shaving my head on the 10th of April, Tim’s Birthday. I’ll have more of an idea on where I’ll be doing it soon.

Thanks

Some new decisions

Due to how quickly Tim is deteriorating unfortunately the beautiful girls and mum mel cannot make it due to how hectic their life has become. So instead I will be dedicating certain parts of my hair that I cut off to each of them.

I will be live-streaming the process and saving my video so everyone gets to see it!

I have decided that it will be at a local park near me for anyone that can come to the physical shave and hopefully either on the 3rd or 4th of April!

I’ll update the details somewhere on here somehow!

Hi everyone

Hi there everyone! I am so thankful for the donations I have received currently. I will have to have a look into a date soon so I can get everything organised. Hopefully I can organise this to be at a local park of some sort!

I also have told Mel that I would love it if her and her girls would help me but cutting off some of my hair. As one last Fuck You to cancer.

Also the amazing Sparklelicious had incredible FUCK CANCER earrings and I currently have some on the way. Once they arrive I will post an update so you all can see what my hair currently looks like too!

I’m fundraising for Cancer Council Victoria to help stop cancer.

Hi everyone.

So cancer has recently touched my life in a very upsetting and abrupt way and I want to do something proactive about it. I decided to shave my hair for Tim Richings who got diagnosed with Stage 4 Terminal Brain cancer last year. He is such an important person to me and I love him and his family so much that it’s impacting me. He is like a big brother to me (despite being old enough to be my dad) and his family is a second family to me. I love them all so much that I couldn’t stop thinking about ways I could help anyone who might be in any similar horrible situations. I’m not sure exactly when I will be shaving my head but I’ll keep everyone updated. Thank you.

Every year more than 35,000 Victorians hear the words ‘you have cancer’.

Thanks in part to generous Victorians, 7 in 10 of them will survive five years after a cancer diagnosis, but there’s still so much work to be done.

Cancer Council needs our support more than ever this year. Every dollar raised gives hope for a cancer free future. By supporting my shave, you’re funding life-saving cancer treatments, prevention programs, and support services that ensure no one has to face cancer alone.
