The big chop!
Kenzie and Parker have done it! They have chopped off their ponytails! And rocking their new do’s! Kenzie, Grumpy Mick always loved long hair on little girls but he would absolutely love your new haircut! Parker, Grumpy Mick would be so happy you finally got a ‘hair cut’! So proud of you guys ??Not long til the big chop!
Only 5 days until Kenzie and Parker chop off their ponytails! We are so blown away by the support and generosity of so many of you. A big thank you to everyone so far!I’m fundraising for Cancer Council Victoria to help stop cancer.
Every year more than 35,000 Victorians hear the words ‘you have cancer’.
Thanks in part to generous Victorians, 7 in 10 of them will survive five years after a cancer diagnosis, but there’s still so much work to be done.
Cancer Council needs our support more than ever this year. Every dollar raised gives hope for a cancer free future. By supporting our chop, you’re funding life-saving cancer treatments, prevention programs, and support services that ensure no one has to face cancer alone.
Most of you know that we lost my Dad, the kids Grumpy Mick, to cancer 12 months ago. Dad lost his battle about 6 months after he was diagnosed.
When we explained to Kenzie and Parker what cancer was and how patients can sometimes loose their hair after receiving Chemo, we also told them people donate their ponytails to make wigs and raise money. Of course these little legends wanted to help out! They have been growing their hair for 2 years, mainly thanks to lockdown so they have a fair bit to give!
Kenzie (9) and Parker (7) are going to chop off their ponytails. Kenzie is going to donate about 40 cm and Parker about 25cm. Their hair will be sent to sustainable salons who use the hair to make wigs. And we’d also like to raise much needed funds for the cancer council and hope that we can help other families in the future.
