Completion of the Rhine cycle to Arnhem

Unfortunately I did not manage to record all the first distances separately on this page .
The first couple of weeks of our first ever Cycle tour  travelling On Eurovelo 15 along the Rhine from Strasbourg in France to Arnhem in The Netherlands was an amazing experience. I never thought I could do something like this, but was kept motivated by our fabulous travelling companions who got us up and going each day.

I’m fundraising for Cancer Council Victoria to help stop cancer.

Why am I fundraising for Cancer Council Victoria when I live in the ACT?

My family have an inherited condition called Lynch syndrome which gives people an increased chance of developing certain cancers across their lifetime, often at a younger age than the general population. My father had lynch syndrome and died of colon cancer at the age of 41 and I am also a carrier of the gene. Cancer Council Victoria have taken on the activities of Lynch Syndrome Australia so I was keen to support their work.

Lynch syndrome is believed to be Australia's most common inherited cancer risk, with one in 280 Australians believed to carry the mismatch repair gene deficiency.

However, only 5% of Australians with Lynch syndrome have been diagnosed.

I thought I would do this cycle challenge as a way of raising awareness  of Lynch Syndrome as well as supporting work that is being done to advocate for and research into Lynch Syndrome and other cancers.

Cancer touches everyone.  Last year both my parents-in-law died from cancer, but I have had many friends who are remission from cancer  as a result of being able to access effective treatments.

There is  still so much work to be done to improve survival rates.

Cancer Council needs our support more than ever this year. Every dollar raised gives hope for a cancer free future. By supporting my  cycle challenge where I aim to ride at least 1500 km, you’re funding life-saving cancer treatments, prevention programs, and support services that ensure no one has to face cancer alone.
