I’m fundraising for Cancer Council Victoria to help stop cancer.
The Trewhella Cup is awarded to the winner of the club with this biggest win average of the day, across the three senior games. The Shield is then awarded to the winner of the Men's Division 1 Match.
Greg 'Toots' Trewhella has links to both clubs but spent majority of his time with Gully. In his day, Toots went on to win league titles as well as league and club best and fairest awards. On the other side of the pitch, he coached all age groups and spent many years on the committee including being club President. Through his dedication, he became the first Life Member of Spring Gully United Soccer Club in 2006.
Toots was diagnosed with cancer and after a very long battle (mainly due to his stubbornness and competitiveness - not wanting to let cancer beat him) he sadly passed away in September 2006. The Trewhella Cup has been played over many years to celebrate the life of the much-respected club man and opponent, but most importantly a great friend and family man.
