I’m fundraising for Cancer Council Victoria to help stop cancer.
As some of you know, Dad had a rare form of eye cancer 11 years ago and had a 50/50 chance of it coming back. As a gambling man, he liked those odds, but unfortunately it was a losing bet and the cancer has come back in his liver.
He has just started treatment but wont know if it's working for 3 months, the doctors have told him that it's terminal and will eventually beat him, but he is up for the fight. If the treatment works he could have years but if it doesn't he will be lucky to see out 2025.
I've decided to use this shit news as motivation. After a year and half hiatus, I'm going to dust off my runners and test myself with the hills of the Rottnest half marathon in June to raise money for the Victorian Cancer Council. Unfortunately, the money raised won't save Davey boy, but hopefully it will go towards saving somebody else's Dad.
I'm setting an ambitious goal of running it in 1:40 and I'll be donating $10 for every minute that I go over.
All donations are much appreciated and add a bit of extra motivation to get this done. Remember to give your old man a hug, a phone call, or drop in for a beer because you never know what's around the corner.
