Orange you glad it's going

Today is the day!

Today is the day!

First I would like to thank you all for taking the time to support me and also donate, I am just shy of $1000! Which is an amazing effort that I can't express enough gratitude for.

For those wondering all donation equivalent to a litre of unleaded or more is tax deductible.

I thought I'd take some time this and write abit more about the reasons around I have decided to do this.

When and why did I decide to do this?

Back in January 2022 I had a haircut as I would usually do once every 4-6 months. I would usually let it grow until it would get in my face too much and would get annoyed and then just go into a shopping centre hairdresser and get it cut then and there usually on a whim. As I was getting my hair cut, I thought to myself that I could probably do something a bit better with my hair before I go grey or my hair thinned out or started to go bald, so I decided that I would grow it out properly (atleast) one last time and do something positive for the world for once, but also why not?

This is something I've wanted to do for a while as well, so I researched and found that basically all I needed to do is having 20cm of cuttable hair is all I need and now well past this point(will provide measurements later).

Since making this decision a lot has happened, I got an ongoing position at work, I moved back to Geelong, built a house, and started a family with my amazing partner giving birth to our beautiful daughter. But there were also sad times, with struggles and stresses throughout including the loss of several friends and family members.

Who am I donating my hair to?

Some may know but a lot of the fundraising associations for cancer do not have a direct hair donation and shows support for many forms of running a fundraiser including shaving, cutting, colouring hair and other forms of supporting these fundraisers. I am currently donating my hair to sustainable salons which have multiple programs for donating hair, this includes creating hair boons which can be created from all lengths of hair even including pet hair* which are used for environmental impacts, and also ponytail programs that allow ponytails from hair (longer than 20cm) which are sent directly to wigmakers and to charitable organisations such as Variety and the Australia Alopecia Areata Foundation to be made into charitable wigs or to fund life-changing programs.

Note: As this is third party to the fundraiser if there are any local wigmakers wanting a donation, I am more than happy to donate and support!

Thank you for taking your time to read this and supporting me!

I’m fundraising for Cancer Council Victoria to help stop cancer.

It's majestic when it blows in the wind, it feels nice you wash it under the shower and are headbanging away to some music but most importantly it has provided years of entertainment when Jacinta tells me to cut it off.

I will admit that because of the above this gives reason for keeping it as long as I have but the end goal was always this to say goodbye and give it to someone else in need, whilst I still can.

Cancer is a scary thing, it's a word that no one likes to hear (aside from the people who like hearing about their horoscopes). It's a word when people mention it, you feel scared not just for the person that may be telling you they or someone may have it, but also for yourself and how quickly life can change and remind us that we are all mortal, because cancer unlike many other diseases is truly one of the only ones that I can almost guarantee that everyone has lost someone to. It's the Big C that everyone talks about with statistics, though I do enjoy some stats I'll give a different perspective. In a world where cancer didn't exist how many extra moments would you have with the people that have been lost, how many extra snags on the bbq how many more cheers would you hear. Cancer sucks though, they live through our memories... The smiles and tears they still bring are reminders that they truly meant something to you as much as you would wish you could just go over and say g'day or pick up the phone and pretend life was the same as yesterday.

If this has touched you this is why stats are not needed to be mentioned when we all don't want to become one.

My sole goal for all this was to be able to shave my hair and allow it to go towards helping others, if you would like to contribute even a $1 though I will be greatly appreciated
