I’m fundraising for Cancer Council Victoria to help stop cancer.
Did you know in Australia roughly 2,700 people are diagnosed with skin cancer every single day? We are two high school students raising donations for skin cancer and we dream of a day where no Australians have to face the heartbreak of a diagnosis.
Our goal as young students, is to educate other young people about the dangers of skin cancer and how to prevent it, as well as raise funds for those already struggling. This goal arised from watching our own loved ones struggle with the battles of cancer, and we specifically chose skin cancer to focus our fundraising on as it is the most diagnosed cancer type in Australia. Although we cannot help our loved ones who faced this battle, we can pay it forward to others in Australia through this initiative.
Our project is called the Sunshine Project, because we want to acknowledge the leading cause of skin cancer, which is the Sun, educating others the dangers of not taking preventative measures to reduce these risks. However, for those struggling in the battle of skin cancer, we want to bring some "sunshine" to their lives through our donations, aiming to make their recovery easier. Our project aims to collaborate with local primary schools to inform young children about skin cancer and how they can prevent it, in an engaging way. Through this, we will collect physical donations along with the online donations made to our website. All donations will go directly to the Cancer Council Victoria to support those struggling with cancer. We ask you for your much-needed support to help us reach our goal of $500, which can contribute to building a better future for Australians, one small step at a time.
We wish all the best
