I’m fundraising for Cancer Council Victoria to help stop cancer.
Hi all,
My name is Steve Horner, I am a pretend good golfer. I am going to try and qualify for the Victorian Senior Amateur Championship in 2026 after I turn 55.
I am doing this to honour a wonderful friend who always wanted to do this himself but now has terminal cancer.
I am going to put myself out there in the hopes that people can support me in my journey but also help me fundraise along the way as a way to help others so they do not go through the same thing they are.
So it starts now, my goal is to get to below a handicap of 5.0 to allow me to qualify. I am going to document the practice and the ups and the downs for the rounds I play and see if I can get to the point where this actually happens.
So far I have joined a golf studio to practice, really for the first time ever, bought new clubs (thank you Titleist) and have even committed to going back to the gym and getting my fat arse in shape maybe.
This is something that means a lot to me.
