Craft a Cure for Cancer

By Lorraine Dunbar

Craft a Cure for Cancer

Craft a Cure for Cancer began with the Tea Cosy Competition, which has been held annually at Warratina Lavender Farm.

The concept of the Tea Cosy Competition is for people who enjoy knitting, crocheting and all types of craft to make tea cosies and soft toys and contribute them to be sold and raise funds for a worthy cause.

The Tea Cosy Competition raised vital funds for Cancer Council’s work in cancer research, prevention and support.

The success of the Tea Cosy Competition has led to many crafters asking if they can create their own craft-related event, and so Craft a Cure for Cancer was born!

We would love for you to register here to by clicking 'start fundraising' and hold your own Craft a Cure event to raise funds for Cancer Council.

Get a group of crafters together and knit, crochet, sew or whatever you like for a cure.

Here are a few ideas for selling your hand-crafted treasures:

  • At a market; many markets will waive fees if you are selling purely as a charity fundraiser.
  • To friends and workmates; often there is a steady demand for handmade items, and people like to buy goods that support a charity that strives to help the whole community.
  • Hold a raffle or an auction; this is a good idea for something that was expensive or time consuming to make.
  • Sell online.

Big or small, every bit will help us in the fight against cancer.
