Marathon 12, we got there!

So there it is, 12 marathons done, 1 a month for 12 months. This last one was in Lerderderg State Park from Blackwood to Mackenzies Flat. What an amazing adventure it was!

Number 11 in the bag

Back on the trails after lockdown and another mara in the bank. It was a tough one around the back of Anglesea this time. Man I'm looking for to the last one and being able to take a rest.

Mara number 10 all done

Today I ran an impromptu mara in the northern Brsibane Ranges. Damn hard with not much planning and little mental prep, but it was awesome and all the wildlife including a koala, helped.

A glorious point to point mara along the Old Beechy Rail Trail from Beech Forest to Barongarook.

Marathon 8 done, and I'm feeling it

Marathon 8 is done, with an awesome trundle around the You Yangs with a bunch of running buddies. They really helped me get over the line for this one. 
After doing mara 7 two weeks ago, backing it up was really hard. The body is sore and frankly I'm glad I've got at least a month off before the next one.

Marathon 7 with waterfalls

Magic day to run around the waterfalls at the back of Lorne. Special run which I really needed to clear my head. Now everything hurts. But it's all worthwhile because of all of you wonderful people donating to this most worthy of causes.

Marathon 6 done and dusted

Geez that was a tough one! 45 km around the Brisbane Ranges but reward with a ton of wildlife including 3 deer. I've never seen deer on a run before!

Marathon 5 done

Well my March marathon is done. Around the back Anglesea to Aireys Inlet and then back along the Surfcoast Walk. Magnificent.
So 5 down, 7 to go...

Marathon 4 tick!

February’s marathon is done! So that’s four in the bank. Another early start and accompanied by cloud, mist and rain for the whole run but it just made it more amazing.
Thanks to Liz Robinson, Daniel Robinson and Nic Ron for meeting me for the second third and keeping me sane. Absolutely love their support, and don’t know how I couldn’t do it without them.

Marathon 3 doneski!

Marathon 3 doneski! An epic adventure starting in the dark and in the rain. Watched the predawn on the coast listening to the roar of the ocean, then climbed into the hills for sunrise. Met the wonderful Liz Robinson and Daniel Robinson for the second half and we climbed up and shuffled down through the forested hills. Magnificent.
Only 9 more to go.

Marathon 2 done

On Monday the 28th of December I trundled around the hills in the glorious Brisbane Ranges for 43.4 kms to complete my 2nd marathon.
I have to give huge thanks to some awesome friends who ran different legs with me. 
It was a tough one too with lots of hills and climbing.
Maybe in January I should find some flatter trails?
Anyway 10 to go...

Number 1 done

Can tick off one marathon. 11 more to go.
Fairhaven to Torquay along the trails and beaches. Absolutely stunning! 
Now to recover...

I’m fundraising for Cancer Council Victoria to help stop cancer.

My last personal challenge was to run a half marathon a week for 12 months. I did that challenge for me.

On Saturday the 21st of November I started a new challenge. I ran the first of 12 marathons I'm going to run over the next year, one each month.

Why? Why not! But more importantly I’m doing this to raise money for the fight against Cancer.
This insidious disease takes too many of our loved ones so I’ll be calling on you to chip in what you can.

Every year more than 35,000 Victorians hear the words ‘you have cancer’.

Thanks in part to generous Victorians, 7 in 10 of them will survive five years after a cancer diagnosis, but there’s still so much work to be done.

Cancer Council needs our support more than ever this year. Every dollar raised gives hope for a cancer free future. By supporting my walk, you’re funding life-saving cancer treatments, prevention programs, and support services that ensure no one has to face cancer alone.
