Addison's Sacrifice

Addi has been worried as she wants to give, help make a difference but really doesn't want to shave her hair. She made the choice to colour her hair, but has been thinking that's too easy, for her. So, she's decided to give up control and let people vote for the colour of her hair. By doing this, she is giving recognition to people affected by cancer, who have no control over the type, stage, timing or side effects they go through. We are raising funds to honour them and those that will come. 

Decisions

We are all facing different decisions, when it comes to our choices of cut, shave or colour. 
Charlotte has chosen to shave half her head,  a style she's had and liked, previously. This is not an easy choice however. She knows, she has to prepare herself, for the added scrutiny of her peers and the unwanted attention and comments. Many try to dictate her sexual preferences or gender identity, based on her hair style. She is aware of this, after her last time. She is aware that some days, it could feel overwhelming. But she feels this is a small price to pay as it is, after all, her choice, unlike those who lose their hair or even body parts, due to cancer, and become centres of unwanted attention and unsolicited opinions through no fault of their own. I am so proud of this sacrifice she is making, to help raise funds for such a worthy cause. 

I’m fundraising for Cancer Council Victoria to help stop cancer.

Patrick came to me and said he'd like to grow his hair to then shave it to fundraise for cancer research. I realised if he could do it, so could I! After talking about it with the girls, Charlotte decided to shave half her head and Addison has decided to colour hers. 

We all know people who have battled cancer. Some have survived, some have fought numerous times and some have lost their fight. We wanted a way to show our support for those that have and will, go through a cancer journey. 

Already we have learned and grown through this experience. Patrick was concerned how I'd be treated, based on my looks after shaving my head. I was concerned about having a shaved head for my graduation. But then we realised,  people don't get to choose when they get cancer, or how it effects them. This is one small sacrifice really, that we can do to make a difference for others. We hope you can join us in making this difference and adding funds to cancer research.
