An intro to the decision
Cancer has personally impacted close and extended family members of mine, as well as millions of Aussies each year. While I didn’t start growing out my hair with the intention of donating it, it soon became clear that it would be a great way to support those who are facing challenging times, even more so during COVID. As many of you have personally seen, my hair is crazy long and really needs a cut! So what better than making use of that insane length (seriously, I can sit on my hair, it’s way past my bum) to support others in need!I’m fundraising for Cancer Council Victoria to help stop cancer.
Every year more than 35,000 Victorians hear the words ‘you have cancer’. Three members of my family have personally been sat down and told those words by the doctor.
Thanks in part to generous Aussie donations, 7 in 10 of those 35,000 will survive and be around five years later to tell their cancer survival story, but not all of them, and there’s still so much work to be done.
Cancer Council needs our support more than ever this year, as COVID impacts those who are undertaking treatments, putting them in even greater risk than normal and isolating them from friends, family and other support. By supporting my fundraiser, you’re helping to fund life-saving cancer treatments, prevention programs, and support services that ensure no one has to face cancer alone. Every dollar raised helps and brings us a step closer to a cancer free future.
