My WHY
When my mum was diagnosed with cancer I told her that if she ended up shaving her head that I would be right there with her and shave me head too. In the two years of her treatments she never did do a shave which meant that I didn’t either. Regardless, ever since I have felt that there was an unfulfilled promise to her.I’m fundraising for Cancer Council Victoria to help stop cancer.
It has been on my heart to do this for many years now and I have finally decided that it is time. Many of you know that my mum, Gitti, passed away from cancer in 2015.
I have chosen to support this organisation based on its support services and I hope that you will help me to reach my goal.
I will be shaving my head to fundraise, and will be donating my hair to a separate organisation that makes wigs for children experiencing hair loss due to treatments.
Every year more than 35,000 Victorians hear the words ‘you have cancer’.
Thanks in part to generous Victorians, 7 in 10 of them will survive five years after a cancer diagnosis, but there’s still so much work to be done.
Cancer Council needs our support more than ever this year. Every dollar raised gives hope for a cancer free future. By supporting my event, you’re funding life-saving cancer treatments, prevention programs, and support services that ensure no one has to face cancer alone.
