SECA Supporting Cancer Day

By Simon Poll

Update to Clubs - 2nd September 2022

Hi Clubs

We have chosen to create a cancer awareness round – November 5. As community cricket clubs, we all become like family, and unfortunately we all know someone who has been impacted by cancer within our clubs. This was highlighted in 2021 when Andrew Verrall, a 30 year old from Washington park club, and Woolnough Shield (and previous Longmuir Shield) player passed away from bowel cancer. We would like to acknowledge all members, and their families from our clubs that have been or are impacted, on this day by wearing a yellow arm band or yellow ribbon, and we ask that each player make a gold coin donation towards the Cancer Council.

SECA supporting cancer

We all know somebody who has been affected by cancer and we wish to raise some money to support all those people who have lost a family member a friend or are currently affected by cancer.

The SECA is having a Cancer Fundraising day on Saturday 5th November where we will want all players (seniors and juniors), supporters and friends to donate a gold coin to the Cancer Council.

More informaton to follow.

I’m fundraising for Cancer Council Victoria to help stop cancer.

Every year more than 35,000 Victorians hear the words ‘you have cancer’.

Thanks in part to generous Victorians, 7 in 10 of them will survive five years after a cancer diagnosis, but there’s still so much work to be done.

Cancer Council needs our support more than ever this year. Every dollar raised gives hope for a cancer free future. By supporting my event, you’re funding life-saving cancer treatments, prevention programs, and support services that ensure no one has to face cancer alone.
