Running with Pete

By Joel Bertoncini

I’m fundraising for Cancer Council Victoria to help stop cancer. In memory of my mentor and second father figure Big Pete.

Peter Connor, my best mate’s dad and second father figure to me, sadly lost his fight with cancer in 2009.  Overwhelmed with grief and sadness I decided that it was time to turn my life around.  Pete had a massive heart and I wanted to do something big to honour the amazing man he was.  So, I made the decision to run from Sydney Opera House to my hometown of Kyneton.

In 2015, I completed the 891.4kms run over 15 days.  A simple run to raise awareness that turned into an epic journey.  It was a life changing experience, so much so that I just had to write about it. So, I decided to write a book, to have my story told.

I am fundraising to cover the costs of publishing my book but want to continue to raise funds for Cancer Council at the same time (the purpose of this page). Once the book is published 20% of all book sales will be directly donated to Cancer Council Victoria to help find a cure for this devastating disease.

I will be having multiple fundraisers including raffles and auctions where all the proceeds will be going towards the publishing of my book and 20% of sales will be going directly to Cancer Council Victoria.  Visit my Facebook site here (link coming shortly) for more details.

However, if you’d like to support my fundraising by donating directly to the Cancer Council, you can make a donation here.

I would like to thank everyone who has supported the cause so far and for helping me get my story out into the world.
