Strands of Love: Donating My Hair for Cancer Warriors

By Manpreet Kaur

I’m fundraising for Cancer Council Victoria to help stop cancer.

Hello everyone,

I decided to make a big change for a cause that is incredibly close to my heart. I have donated 35 cm of my hair to organizations that create wigs for patients fighting cancer.

This cause isn't just important to me; it's personal. A few years ago, I lost a very close, dear friend to cancer. Watching someone you love go through that battle changes you, and I have felt deeply connected to this cause ever since.

Losing my friend taught me so much about strength, but it also left me wanting to do more to support those who are currently facing the reality of a cancer diagnosis. Hair loss can be one of the most emotionally challenging parts of cancer treatment, affecting a patient's confidence and identity. By donating my hair, I hope to give a piece of comfort, dignity, and confidence back to someone who needs it most.

How you can help:

While my hair will go toward making a wig, I am also using this opportunity to raise vital funds to support cancer patients and research.

Any donation, big or small, makes a massive difference. If you aren't able to donate financially, sharing this page with your friends and family would mean the world to me.

Thank you so much for your generosity, your love, and for helping me honor my beautiful friend's memory by bringing a little bit of light to someone else's fight.

With gratitude,

Manpreet
