I’m fundraising for Cancer Council Victoria to help stop cancer.
Soph’s cut for Cancer in honour of her Poppy.
Hello, my name is Sophia (Soph). I’m 10 years old. I’m in grade 5, I go to Cohuna Consolidated School and I am also playing my first year of Netball for Cohuna Kangas Football Netball Club.
I decided I wanted to cut off my hair and donate it to raise funds for the cancer council foundation in honour of my Pop who sadly passed away from Pancreatic cancer on the 3rd of February last year (2023).
When we found out pop was sick, I told him I was going to get my hair cut and donate it in his honour. My pop loved how long my hair was and he was shocked when I told him what I wanted to do. He said “you don’t have to do that for me, but if you want to get it cut then go for it sweetheart”. He was honoured and extremely proud of me for having a heart of gold and for trying my best to think of ways to help others.
I’m doing this for my Pop and for others out there who are currently fighting and or that have lost their battle to cancer. I’m hoping by donating my hair and raising money for the cancer council foundation that it potentially helps others out there battling this terrible disease and hopefully one day soon they can find a cure for all cancers for all cancer patients.
Please help me by digging deep and donating to this very worthy cause, that I hold very close to my heart. Every cent helps.
Thank you all so much for all the support and helping give me the confidence to participate in this amazing event.
Every year more than 35,000 Victorians hear the words ‘you have cancer’.
Thanks in part to generous Victorians, 7 in 10 of them will survive five years after a cancer diagnosis, but there’s still so much work to be done.
Cancer Council needs our support more than ever this year. Every dollar raised gives hope for a cancer free future. By supporting my event, you’re funding life-saving cancer treatments, prevention programs, and support services that ensure no one has to face cancer alone.
