Walking Stars needs enthusiastic volunteers on Saturday 7th December 2019 to assist with event logistics, act as motivators on the course and support our 3000 strong participants.
We have volunteer roles suited to everyone. None require heavy lifting. All volunteers will receive instruction and support.
Be part of either the Village Marshall Team or the Course Marshall Team.
Village Marshall Team
The Walking Stars start and finish lines, stage and food trucks will all be located at The Village at Alexandra Gardens. Various positions are required in The Village such as baggage assistance, registration assistance and volunteer check in assistance.
Course Marshall Team
Course Marshals will be situated at the start line, finish line and around the track where all the action happens. You’ll be cheering walkers on, creating a fun and positive atmosphere and providing support to participants.
Shifts will be 4-6 hours starting between 6pm and 11pm and finishing between 9pm and 3am. Longer shifts will include breaks.
Training sessions for all volunteers will be held on:
- Tuesday, 19 November from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm at Docklands Library – Level 2, 107 Victoria Harbour Promenade, Docklands VIC 3008
- Saturday, 30 November from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at Cancer Council Victoria – 615 St Kilda Rd, Melbourne VIC 3004
You must attend one of these training sessions to receive all the required information and be prepared for your role on the big day.
