Set a date, pick a venue and charge an entry fee for a night of brain twisters and laughs. You could even include some additional games or a raffle to boost donations.
You make a difference
Every year, over 31,600 Victorians hear the words ‘you have cancer'. Their lives will change in an instant, as will those of the people around them.
At Cancer Council Victoria, we’re determined to change this – but we need your help.
By saying “iWill host a trivia night” and raising funds, you’ll be making a real difference in the fight against cancer, one dollar at a time. Why? Because you’ll be funding ground-breaking cancer research, prevention programs and support services that offer a helping hand to all people affected by cancer.
So let’s get quizzical for a very worthy cause. Together we can prevent cancer, empower patients and save lives.
Make your fundraising page interesting!
Add photos, videos and comments to let people know what you’re doing and why? They want to know your story, so share your passion!
Be proud of what you’re doing and spread the word. Send emails to your family, friends and work colleagues asking them to let them know about your trivia night. Post your fundraising page link to Facebook and Twitter and add your fundraising page link to your e-mail signature.
We’re here to help!
Once you’ve created your page, our dedicated fundraising officer will be in touch to help you make the most of your trivia night.
“Source all food, decorations, invitations and prizes from local businesses. We asked hundreds of people for help. Some said no but that was just one step closer to a yes!”
Where does the money I raise go?
Money raised through I Will for Cancer will be used to fund vital research, educating the community about how they can cut their cancer risk and supporting Victorians affected by cancer. If you raise over $5,000 you will be able to direct the funds to a research award.
Can I have someone from Cancer Council Victoria attend my event and make a speech?
If you would like someone to speak at your event we will do our best to be there. Contact us to discuss the options available.
How can I get businesses to support me?
After you register you will receive an 'Authority to Fundraise' letter, this will help when approaching businesses to show that the Cancer Council Victoria is supportive of your fundraising. You might want to draw up a proposal, clearly outlining what you would like from them and what they will get in return (i.e. their logo will be on your poster, you'll promote their business on the day or on your Facebook page, they can have flyers or business cards in goody bags etc.)
How can I get my event in the media?
In your welcome pack there will be a media release template. Use this as a guide and send it around to your local papers, radio stations or email some online event calendars or 'what's on' websites.
